The need for STEM to be integrated across all curriculum prevails however this workshop is specifically aimed at School Science teachers. It has been created in collaboration with lead School Science teachers and is designed to help teachers support the needs of students of the digital age develop skills for their future careers in a rapidly changing world. In a collaborative, activity-based workshop teachers will be able to explore some of the most current technological advances in Science along with their impact on society, learn of globally recognised best practice for integrating STEM and practical activities that will support capabilities in technology alongside the National Science curriculum.

This full day PD workshop (6 hours) will address the following:

Why STEM is of such great importance in today’s education with specific reference to the Science classroom

Practical PD values innovation and keeping up with current trends that benefit teachers in their endeavour to provide the best educational opportunities to their students. During the first session Teachers will explore advice provided by industry professionals in the future needs of our students and some of the current trends in STEM education taking place around the globe.

Hands on classroom activities

As the advancement of technology continues to grow exponentially, and the abilities of artificial intelligence becomes increasingly complex, all students need to have an understanding of digital technologies and posses higher order thinking skills to provide functions computers are not capable of. This workshop will support teachers with contextual activities that will facilitate higher order thinking across the Science strands. This will include applications of Artificial Intelligence and Coding using both unplugged activities and those using newly released digital technologies.

Linking the current National Curriculum to promote rich STEM learning outcomes

At Practical PD we acknowledge the great pressure to provide programs that meet requirements mandated by the National Curriculum. In this workshop your Practical PD consultant will help you see opportunities to integrate STEM with digital technologies creatively, with particular attention to Science for Human Endeavour, to enrich the learning environment your students.
