STEM Lesson Plan & Activities - BEE BOT Preprimary


Pre-Primary- BeeBot activity- “We are Going on a Bear Hunt”
Lesson 1- Read story “We are going on a bear hunt”. Rhyming pairs using words from the story on own beebot mat/ Create binoculars and hats.
Lesson 2- Oral retell of the story. If we have green screen put a background in to recreate the story. Record via iPad.
Lesson 3- Create a bee-bot mat using the parts of the story. Ie- characters, setting, problem, solution.
Lesson 4- Discuss what you would need if you were going on a bear hunt ie- camping equipment. Design a trailer for the beebot to take on its trip. What does a trailer need to move?? What do equipment do they need?
Lesson 5- Build, test and refine their beebot trailers. – include measuring, weight etc
Lesson 6- Discuss where they went on the Bear hunt. What geographical aspects did they come across ie- mountains, rocks etc. Design and recreate the story through a beebot mat. Film groups retell using the mats.

Lesson 8- Set problems for the students to work through using the mats they have create.
Follow on lessons-
Discuss Australian animals. Habitats etc. Make your own Australian animal story using the same process as “We are going on a bear hunt” lessons.
